In his role as Managing Director, Dan supports efforts to serve the firm’s wealth management clients and executes wide-ranging research initiatives focused on macro trends, asset allocation and risk management. Prior to joining CAS, Dan held the role of Portfolio Manager at WST since 2016. Prior to the April 2024 acquisition of the CAS division, the firm was defined as Wilbanks Smith & Thomas Asset Management, LLC (“WST”), an SEC registered investment adviser headquartered in Norfolk, VA. Previously, he held the role of Director of Research at a Richmond-based investment advisory firm, as a portfolio strategist at a broker/dealer, and as a portfolio manager/research analyst within the trust division of a large regional banking organization.

Dan grew up in Greenville, South Carolina, and graduated from the University of Georgia’s Terry College of Business. A CFA charter-holder, he is a member of the CFA Institute and previously served on the board of the CFA Society Virginia, as Treasurer and Den Leader of Cub Scout Pack 747 in the Heart of Virginia Council of the Boy Scouts of America and on the Endowment Committee at All Saints Episcopal Church (Richmond).
