Mark is Sr. Managing Director for CAS. Prior to the April 2024 acquisition of the CAS division, the firm was defined as Wilbanks Smith & Thomas Asset Management, LLC (“WST”), an SEC registered investment adviser headquartered in Norfolk, VA, where mark served as Principal and Portfolio Manager and helped direct analyst research initiatives. Before his tenure at WST, which began in 2001, Mark served as Vice President and Head of Investment Research at a regional investment advisory firm. Mark began his finance career in banking roles specializing in bankruptcy and distressed debt restructuring.

A Virginia Beach native, Mark graduated from the McIntire School of Commerce at the University of Virginia with a degree in Commerce. He also earned an MBA from the Darden Graduate School of Business Administration at the University of Virginia. Mark serves on the boards of the Old Dominion University Educational Foundation, the Eastern Virginia Medical School and the Norfolk Botanical Gardens Foundation. He spends his free time with his wife and their three children.
