Adam Martinson is an Executive Managing Director, Head of Tax at Clearstead, where he supports leading the firm’s tax offering nationwide, setting a consistent strategy to support all tax processes through to client deliverables, overseeing tax strategies and planning opportunities through Tax Committee approval, designing staffing structures and role expectations, establishing internal and external communication guidelines, and overseeing firmwide fee alignment. Adam has been working in the tax industry since 2012 and joined Clearstead in 2026.
Adam brings expertise in tax strategy, tax planning, organizational structure, private wealth taxation, and firmwide operational alignment. Before joining Clearstead, Adam served as a Managing Director of Tax Services at Grant Thornton Advisors LLC, where Adam oversaw the Ohio Market for Private Wealth Services and served on the national firm leadership team for Private Wealth Services. Throughout Adam’s career, Adam has led strategic tax initiatives, multigenerational planning engagements, and firmwide advisory process development.
Adam obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance and Accounting from Kent State University and a Master of Science in Accountancy from Kent State University. Adam currently serves on the Kent State University Accounting Advisory Board, the Cleveland Museum of Natural History Planned Giving Committee, and the Boys and Girls Club of Northeast Ohio Bridge Board.
