Carl J. Tippit, CFA

Carl Tippit is Co-Chairman at Clearstead, where he supports growth initiatives. He has been working in the finance and investment industry since 1983 and joined Clearstead in 2009 and has been a shareholder since 2009 .

Carl brings expertise in equity (including individually traded stocks), fixed income, private equity, hedge funds, direct lending, and start-up equity. Before joining Clearstead he served as President, headed the Research Department, and was co-leader of the Private Client Group. Throughout Carl’s career, he has led M&A transactions, served as CEO/CFO for several domestic and international companies, managed an equity long/short hedge fund, and was a Managing Partner of a Private Equity Fund of Funds.

Carl obtained his bachelor’s degree from Williams College, gained his MBA from the University of Chicago, and holds a Chartered Financial Analyst designation. Carl currently serves on the board and is the past Chairman of Investment Committee for University School, serves on the board of the Cleveland Salvation Army, and the Benjamin Rose Investment Committee. He has been a past member of the Arthritis Foundation, Fill This House, and Cleveland Trees.
