Daniel joined Clearstead’s Research Team in 2018. As Chief Economist, Dan is the co-author of the firm’s weekly research note and takes the lead on preparing the firm’s macroeconomic viewpoint. As the head of public equity research, he is responsible for evaluating and monitoring global public equities, including US, international and emerging market equity strategies. Daniel is primarily responsible for conducting manager due diligence for long-only public equity strategies, manager reviews, analyzing fund statistics, and forming investment recommendations. As part of the Clearstead’s public markets team, he assists in determining the firm’s views on asset allocation, risk management, and capital market assumptions.
Dan brings valuable experience in market research and economic analysis to the firm, having served most recently as a Senior Director with Freedonia Custom Research— a division of MarketResearch.com—partnering with the firm’s largest global clients. Previously, he had also worked more than a decade as an economist, primarily with the U.S. State Department specializing in economic development, international assistance, global labor markets, and trade policy. Dan holds a B.S. in Industrial & Labor Relations from Cornell University, a M.A in International Relations from the University of Chicago and an MBA from Loyola University.
