Mac McLaughlin, CFP®, CEPA®

Mac McLaughlin is a Senior Managing Director in the Private Client Group at Clearstead, where he serves as a client-facing financial quarterback, coordinating planning, investment management, estate and philanthropic guidance, and income tax planning and solutions across a broad spectrum of client families. He has been working in the wealth management industry since 2016 and joined Clearstead in 2026.

Mac brings expertise in comprehensive wealth planning, multi-generational family governance, investment management, and tax-sensitive strategies. Before joining Clearstead he worked in the multi-family office space as the primary point of contact for client families, facilitating all aspects of their financial lives while balancing non-financial considerations such as delicate multi-generational family dynamics. Throughout Mac’s career, he has built a deep toolkit of knowledge and experience by learning from leading professionals in the field and working closely with client families across the United States as they navigate their own unique financial and non-financial circumstances.

Mac obtained his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Virginia, where he was a four-year letter winner on the Varsity Golf Team and earned Academic All-American honors, and he holds the Certified Financial Planner™ (CFP®) designation. Mac attended University School in Hunting Valley, Ohio. Mac currently serves on the Board of Engage! Cleveland, has served on the Board of Directors for the Financial Planning Association of Northeast Ohio, and has served on the planning committee for the Ronald McDonald House of Cleveland Charity Pro-Am since 2016, and is actively involved in the Cleveland community.
