Steve Bowery, CFA, CFP®

Steve Bowery is a Senior Managing Director at Clearstead, where he supports clients with investment strategy, portfolio management, and long-term financial planning. He has been working in the financial services industry since 1991 and joined Clearstead in 2020.

Steve brings expertise in research, portfolio construction, fund management, and client service. Before joining Clearstead, he served as President of Virginia Capital Strategies (VCS), a Roanoke-based investment management firm he founded in 2001, which joined Wilbanks Smith & Thomas Asset Management, LLC (“WST”) in January 2020, prior to its acquisition by Clearstead in April 2024. Throughout Steve’s career, he has held roles as Research Analyst, Portfolio Manager, Fund Manager, and Client Service Officer.

Steve obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree from Emory & Henry College, where he also participated on the football team, and earned his Master of Business Administration from Wake Forest University; he holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation and is a Certified Financial Planner (CFP). Steve currently serves as Board Treasurer of Center in the Square, where he has launched several successful initiatives including the Roanoke Pinball Museum.
