Pat joined Clearstead Avalon Trust in March 2025 after fifteen years as an estate planning attorney in private practice. Pat’s expertise includes planning and wealth transfer strategies in the areas of estate, gift, and tax, business succession, charitable and philanthropic planning, trust and estate administration, and various forms of wealth transfer and succession planning within families.

Prior to joining Clearstead Avalon Trust, Pat’s estate planning practice in Santa Fe, NM focused on achieving financial, personal, and tax objectives for clients through estate and succession planning.  This included planning for the management of family businesses, minerals, real estate, and various other forms of assets, employing a wide range of estate and tax planning tools.  Pat also represented estates and trusts in various matters, including contested estate and trust proceedings involving fraud and undue influence. Pat is a former member of the Board of Directors of the Santa Fe Estate Planning Council.

Pat has resided in Santa Fe since 2010. He has previously lived in New York City, New Jersey, Washington, D.C., Denver, Atlanta, and the Middle East. He received his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Virginia and his Juris Doctor from the University of Virginia School of Law.  Pat has served as a Board Member for Esperanza Shelter for Battered Families in Santa Fe and volunteered with the New Mexico State Bar and the Santa Fe Children’s Museum.  Pat has been recognized by the First District Court for his pro bono service to low-income New Mexicans.
